TERRO® Liquid Ant Killer, TERRO® original ant killer, provides fast-acting elimination of the queen and entire colony. The ant killer is specifically designed – using the active ingredient Borax- to kill the worker ant in two to three days, giving the foraging ants enough time to share the bait with the rest of the unsuspecting colony.
To kill common household ants, simply apply the product directly from the bottle onto the provided cardboard squares and place near indoor areas where ants are spotted.
How Does It Work:
TERRO® Liquid Ant Killer is a bait product, so at first ants will come in large numbers, but they will soon disappear. The product is specifically formulated to allow worker ants to consume the product and survive long enough to carry the liquid back to the nest and deliver a dose to the rest of the colony.
This is the only way to get rid of both the ants you see and the thousands you don’t! While the active ingredient in the bait will ultimately kill the worker ant, it interferes with the ant's digestive system and works slowly enough that the worker has time to get back and share the ant bait with the rest of the colony, including the queen. This slow kill is needed to allow time for the foraging ants to make several trips to the bait and deliver enough bait to the rest of the colony.
Leave the product undisturbed while the ants are actively feeding on it. Be sure to eliminate all other food sources in the area. This will ensure that the ants aren’t tempted to eat anything but the deadly liquid ant killer.
Directions for Use
Tear the pieces of cardboard from the ant killer carton along the perforated lines and simply apply the product directly from the bottle onto the cardboard square. Small pieces of paper, cardboard, or foil also may be substituted.
Place the product where ants are seen, such as the edges of sinks, tubs, window sills, under food cabinets, along floors and baseboards and in corners. Do not skimp on bait placements; the more bait placements, the better.
Resist the temptation to interfere when the ants come in droves — your patience will pay off as you watch your ant infestation dwindle then disappear.
The key to effectively eliminating the ant infestation is to monitor the placements and ensure there is always a fresh supply of TERRO® Ant Killer for the ants to feast on. Depending on the size of the ant invasion, complete control may take up to two weeks.
Since invading ants usually have outdoor nesting sites, it often helps to put the product outside, close to where ants are found entering the structure. Ants typically follow defined trails from the nest to food or water so placing the ant killer close to these trails will improve control.

Had a major problem in he kitchen. Terro started knocking down the population right away, and no ants today! Best part is I am ready for the next wave, if it should come, because only used 1/2 the bottle!

We have been using this for years, I remember mom using it 30 years ago, it works great, the ants all show up to get a bite of the liquid then off they go and that is the end of them.

Works on Acrobat antsMarch 27, 2013
I tried this product as a last resort for a kitchen infestation of acrobat ants. These ants ignored two different types of solid baits which were claimed to attract acrobat ants, but swarmed within seconds to drops of this Terro liquid bait.

In an old farmhouse overrun with ants, I have tried almost every possible product, potion, and trap. This is the only stuff that really works.

Either the ant control products I have tried stink to high heaven, they are potentially toxic to pets and, for that matter, you, they're expensive or they simply don't work. This product is the only one I've bought in a store that has worked. Ever. It's easy to apply and economical. Of course, if you step on one of these traps, it's annoying (the stuff is sticky), but having swarms of ants in your kitchen or bathroom is far, far more annoying. It's the only product for ants that I would ever buy.

Had a severe problem with tiny ants(like pepper flakes) in my dishwasher!! Tried 2 other liquid ant killers and they ate it up. Then I used this product. They swarmed it, and the next day I found many bodies, but some still alive. Now, after 4 days they are completely gone. End of problem.

I use this product to refill the Terro ant traps when the ants have eaten all of the product that was originally loaded into the traps. It works great.

We had a very mild winter and early spring and the ants came in my house with a vengeance! I first bought Raid ant traps and they didn't do anything. I bought Terro and it was miraculous! At first it brought lots more ants out but within 12 hours they were 90% gone. Within a few days 99% gone. Any time I see an ant I will skip the others and get Terro!

Terro is great and easy to use. My counters are black and it was hard to see where the ants were coming from. As soon as I put the dots of terro on the card board the ants were instantly attracted. They all surrounded the Terro and went back to their nest. The ants were gone in two days. I wish I would have known about this two years ago when I hired the pest company to get rid of the ants It would have saved me more than $200 and the ants would have actually been gone. Save yourself the money and use Terro before you call the exterminator.

We've had ants in the kitchen off an on for years. Normally we call the bug guy and he comes and sprays and they're gone. This spring we missed a bug treatment and the ants were running all over the kitchen counters and sink. Little ones everywhere. I got out the spray stuff that "works up to three months" - it worked for less than an hour. I got out some ant bait stations I hadn't used - no results. I thought maybe they were old, so I went to the store and bought some new plastic ant bait stations - the ants ignored them. I bought some newfangled spray stuff - kills on contact and residual kills for a month - yup it killed on contact and they wouldn't go near the stuff for about 24 hours, and then they were back. We called the bug guy out - he sprayed and they were gone for a day - then back. Then somebody told my wife about Terro. She put one cardboard square out with a few drops of the stuff on it. In a couple hours they were going crazy - swimming in it. The little cardboard square was a black, vibrating mass of ants. I put another square out a few feet away - same thing - there was a steady stream of ants going to and from it. You could actually see a difference between the ants coming and the fat ones going back to the nest. It was fascinating. I replenished the terro on the cardboard the next morning and all day the ants came and went. Toward the end of the second day, I noticed the numbers had diminished quite a lot. The next morning, no ants. None to be found, anywhere. They were gone. This stuff works.Incidentally, the ants totally ignored a drop of terro that we put on top of the other company's plastic bait station and another drop on the window trim about an inch away from the cardboard - there must be something about placing it on the cardboard that makes it work.

This is the most amazing product that I have used. I put in it two areas where I either knew or suspected that there were ants inside my house. Within 15-20 minutes, there were hundreds of them in a feeding frenzy. The secret is to resist the temptation to spray them, since they eventually head back to the nest where apparently they infect others and where they all die. So far, it has taken a little less than 3 days for the hundreds to drop down to a handful. Some didn't make it back to the nest. This is clearly a very effective product. You can get it for $2 and change at your local hardware store.

For me this product worked but took about 6 full days. The location was from the wall by a cabinet and thankfully out of my way so I left this stuff alone (other than a few times a day re-drop) and ants kept coming by the hundreds (thousands?). By day six they were down to a trickle so I patched the hole, cleaned up the remaining ants and that's the last I have seen of them. If not for six days this would be a 5 star.
