Solid doors and handle guards protect users during transportation, while smoothed internal edges protect and prevent injuries to animals. These large raccoon traps are made in the U.S.A.

We've had this trap for about 3 weeks and have caught 3 raccoons, 2 groundhogs and an opossum. Setting, baiting and releasing are simple functions. We're very happy with the purchase.
FINALLY getting my raccoons!! June 06, 2012

Hi! Finally I found a trap that deserves a BIG thumbs up! I had initially put it out the first day, raccoon dug under the trap to steal the bait, I then put a piece of card board inside the floor of the cage, next day the raccoon physically moved the cage. Enough already, next day , I put the cardboard on the bottom of trap, bricks on each side of the trap and bricks on top of it. SIX raccoon later.....I am LOVING it!! I would highly recommend this trap, its done the job, and is still doing the job!!!
Will catch smaller animals too! November 07, 2011

I was worried that this larger cage would not be as sensitive to smaller pests since I knew we were having issues with small opossums in addition to the larger ones. Well, it works fine for smaller animals too... it has caught our "teenage" kittens a few times and we have caught a couple of half-grown possums as well. So if you need a cage that will work for larger animals in addition to small ones, this is a definite YES!
As a side note, I usually close one side and just set the other side open. That way the food is far back in the end and they HAVE to walk over the trigger to get to it. When we had both sides open the opossum got in and ate the food without setting it off. The two doors is still an advantage though... you can open the side and put the trap food in the end and then just close it again. Makes it a cinch to set. We borrowed a smaller Havahart trap of our neighbors and even though it is much smaller, it's hard to set because it has just the one door. Highly recommend this trap, in two weeks we've caught 6 opossums that had been harassing our chickens (and killing some chicks), not to mention all our cats! :D

Raccoon Trap Works Great July 10, 2010

Works great with marshmallows for bait. Leave one end closed and leave a trail of 4-5 marshmallows from outside the trap all the way to the closed back door. Caught 3 raccoons in the first week
Second night....success! June 20, 2010
I picked one of these traps up at Lee Valley in Halifax. I've been pestered by some Raccoons getting into my garbage for weeks now, and finally had it. I found where they've been going under my shed to get around to the garbage, so I set the trap with a granola bar, and waited. The first night, I had both doors open, and the granola bar was gone. The second night I used only one door open, and this morning, there was a little 'coon in my trap. The trap is set again now, and hopefully day 3 will yield another one. I am certain there's more than 1 here. I'm quite pleased that Mr. Coon won't be bothering anyone's garbage anymore!
This trap works! June 14, 2010
I bought this trap to remove the woodchucks from my wife's garden. Last year I caught 9 woodchucks, 2 possums, 1 raccoon, and 5 squirrels in a 4 week period. In a 2 week period this year, I got 2 raccoons, 2 woodchucks, and 2 squirrels. The woodchucks get a free ride to empty farmland a few miles away - the other guys get released in my back yard. The trap is easy to set up and it works every time. For bait I use half an apple. I recommend this trap to anyone who wants a product that works!
Havahart 1050 March 27, 2009
Hello,i just purchased this animal trap online 2 days ago and received it today. I have a big groundhog problem where i live and this is why i purchased this trap the model 1050. I chose this model because i wanted a larger size so that i wouldn't hurt the animal.
Well after reading different forums that actually knocked the havahart traps with people stating that they could never catch a groundhog in theirs, I read the literature that came with this trap and used a combination of 2 foods under the plate; A FRESH STRAWBERRY AND A PIECE OF FRESH CABBAGE. No other baiting outside the trap to lure them in, just under the plate as directed.
I set the trap with both doors open today right alongside my deck. 3 hours later i peeked out and had a groundhog in the trap. I just got back from relocating him down the road.
This is a great product and i just had to share this with everyone. BILL

I tried everything for Mr. Groundhog. He was quite content and was not leaving after ammonia, moth balls, ripping down the lattice around the deck, bleach in the holes. I was just about to give up and live with the fact that nature had defeated me when I read all the reviews about this particular trap. Believe me, I had my reservations as I have never ever trapped anything in my life. But to my sweet surprise it worked on day 3. It probably would of worked sooner, but I didn't follow directions and put my bait in the wrong spot. He did go in and eat it however, so it would of worked on day 1. Day 2, he must of gotten in there and eaten again. My advice would be to cram whatever your bait is way under the plate so that the animal has to work at getting it. We eventually caught him with one apple slice stuck way under the plate.
Thank you so much for this trap. I can now enter the backyard and walk on the deck in peace without looking to see where my furry friend is and if he is going to dart at anyone.

The first time I caught a raccoon in this trap I suddenly understood why it was the best trap I could have bought. Unlike some of the off-brand traps that look the same, this one has solid sheet metal doors and a metal guard plate around the handle. When I bent down to pick up the trap I realized that if that guard plate were not there I could have been bitten through the bars. (Needless to say, even a perfectly healthily trapped raccoon is going to be in a very sour mood!) Same with the solid doors on the ends - if the doors had been made of the same mesh as the cage (as they are in some other brands) I would not have been able to release the raccoon without risking a good chomping.
This trap has already paid for itself in eggs that are no longer being stolen (along with the occasional hen) and it looks like it's going to give me many more years of dependable use. I'm glad I bought my own instead of borrowing one from Animal Control, because I'm able to keep it set in the chicken pen pretty much all the time this way. I've caught four raccoons and a possum in the two weeks since I bought it, and have safely relocated them all to an undeveloped area. (Be sure to check with Animal Control in your area to make sure this is legal - and in any case have them come and dispose of the animal for you if it is behaving unusually. Always wear gloves and jeans and sturdy shoes when handling wild animals! It's also a good idea to wash the trap down with a bleach solution and let it dry thoroughly after each use, before handling it again.)
....Just a note to add that I've had this for about a year now and have trapped and relocated twelve raccoons and six possums and it's still working great. I've left it out in the rain most of the time I've had it, too, but just a little WD-40 now and then keeps it snap-happy. Excellent investment!
