Seed StartingSeed starting

Seeds are nature’s way of reproducing plant life. But we can also grow plants deliberately from garden seeds ourselves, either directly in the ground, or in containers where we tend the growing seedlings until they are strong enough for us to plant them out. Most of us plant garden seeds that are produced commercially.

How To Go About Planting Seeds

Seed starting - how

Whatever plants you plan on growing, there is a process you need to follow to make certain that you will succeed when planting seeds. These actions include you ensuring you have suitable soil for planting seeds, watering and feeding the seeds, and continuing to water and feed the seedlings as they push above ground.

If you choose to use containers or planters for planting seeds, you will need to pay close attention to the needs of the plants and the characteristics of your planter. For example, if you are using a biodegradable coco-lined planter for planting seeds, these need to be watered almost daily, sometimes even more, depending on the amount of sunlight they receive.

planting seeds- beansWhen planting seeds in the garden make sure the soil is suitable for the seeds you are going to plant. Planting seeds in soil that is either too alkaline or too acidic for the type of plant is usually unsuccessful. When planting seeds in containers, start with a hearty, pre-mixed soil, and remember whatever way you choose for planting seeds, you need to consider the container type for what you are planting.

There are no absolutes when planting seeds other than the fact that most seeds require well drained soil, water and sunlight to grow and thrive. However, planting seeds indoors allows you more control of guaranteeing the success of your plants' growth!
